MICC was commissioned by the Zambian government in 1970 and constructed by Yugoslav engineers in just 107 days. The centre was officially opened by Zambia’s first President, Kenneth Kaunda, in readiness for the third Summit Conference of Non-Aligned Nations. Since then, MICC has hosted numerous international diplomatic conferences, including the Multi-Party Namibian Independence Talks and the US-Africa talks led by Henry Kissinger.
To be the premier meetings, conference and exhibition centre in the region.
To deliver world-class events as Zambia’s favorite venue, setting the standard for excellence, creating memories and experiences worth sharing.
Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) is proudly owned by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) of Zambia. The IDC is a state-owned enterprise responsible for managing and developing Zambia’s strategic assets and investments. As a part of its mandate, the IDC ensures that MICC remains a premier venue for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions, continuously striving to meet international standards and cater to a diverse range of events. The Ministry of Finance holds a minor share in MICC, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the centre’s facilities and services.
This ownership structure not only provides financial stability but also aligns MICC with Zambia’s broader economic and development goals. MICC continues to be a central hub for diplomacy, business and cultural activities in Zambia and the region.
